Hiking & Biking

Many hiking trails and bicycle routes of various levels of difficulty start right at our hotel. Relax on a walk on flat paths through the Kocheler moor or along the lake promenade. Explore the idyllic foothills of the Alps by bike or with a hiking stick. Of course, we would be happy to advise you on planning your excursions and hikes. You can get hiking and cycling maps as well as other information material at the reception.
You can find a good overview of tours of all levels of difficulty at the >>Tölzer hiking tips (DE) and biking tips (DE) or in the tour portal of the >> Karwendel Alps.

Kristall Trimini
The Kristall Trimini was reopened in 2017 after a major expansion phase. The family and active section is ideal for families and children. In addition to a 25m indoor pool, there are many pools and ponds as well as an all-weather slide. In summer the 27m long outdoor pool with diving tower, the 160m long outdoor slide and the large sunbathing lawn with lake access are open.
For all wellness and sauna fans, we recommend the new thermal baths and the large sauna area. On 12,000 square meters you will find 5 different saunas, steam baths, spacious relaxation zones and much more.
Tip: The Trimini can be reached by car from the hotel in around 5 minutes and on foot in around 20 minutes.

Motor boating on lake Kochel

With the “MS Herzogstand” you can take off directly from the Hotel and circle the entire Kochelsee once. Of course, sections of the route to the Walschensee power plant, the monastery village of Schlehdorf, the Trimini or the Franz Marc Museum are also possible.
Herzogstandbahn
A gondola takes you in just 4 minutes to one of the most beautiful Bavarian mountains – the Herzogstand. From the mountain station it is only an easy 10 minute walk to the restaurant. From here you can go on a hike to the summit (approx. 45 minutes) or take the challenging route over the ridge trail to Heimgarten.

Walchensee electric power plant

The Walchensee power plant was built by Oskar von Miller in 1924 and is considered the cradle of industrial power generation in Bavaria. Even today, with 300 million kilowatt hours, it is one of the largest high-pressure storage power plants in Germany.
Visit the information center and the machine hall, entry is free with the guest card.

In and on the lakes
The Kochel and Walchensee lakes offer a variety of different water sports. There are beautiful bathing areas and rowing and pedal boat rentals on both lakes. The winds on the Walchensee are regular, allowing you to sail or surf. On the Kochelsee, surfing is usually only possible in “Föhn winds”.
Stand-up paddling is becoming increasingly popular. This is also permitted on both lakes. There are also rental stations in the summer season.
Our hotel guests can use the lawn with access to the lake and the in-house rowing boat free of charge.

The Blomberg (mountain of fun)
The Blomberg area is a popular local recreation and hiking destination known far beyond the borders of the Tölzer Land region. With its modern cable car, the exhilarating summer toboggan run, the exciting Blomberg Blitz, and the magical children’s adventure park, Blomberg offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities for all ages.
The climbing garden on Blomberg is Germany’s highest high ropes course. Children as young as 4 can gain their first experience just above the ground. Those with a sense of adventure can choose the medium-sized panoramic course, and for the braver, the “Blombergistan” course—the most challenging of the ten routes—offers the ideal challenge.
